An outbreak was declared at Fairview Health Complex on Nov. 13 after three health-care workers tested positive for COVID-19.

In a tweet, Alberta Health Services (AHS) says the facility remains a safe place to receive care.

“There is no increased risk to patients coming to the hospital,” AHS stated. “Any patient with symptoms, or who has tested positive for COVID-19, is isolated and treated in designated rooms.”

One patient case is being investigated at this time, while contact tracing is ongoing for anyone potentially exposed to these individuals.

“Patients within the hospital will continue to receive the treatment, care and support they need,” AHS added. “To keep everyone safe, only designated support persons will be allowed to visit in end-of-life or other extenuating circumstances.”

Visitors are encouraged to continue meeting virtually with their loved ones.

As of Nov. 12, the Fairview area had 18 active cases of COVID-19 along with 28 recoveries.
