The Fairview Hospital Foundation is all about supporting health care in our community, sometimes purchasing equipment, sometimes lobbying with Alberta Health Services for upgrades, sometime other longer-term projects. One long-term project is the scholarships it distributes annually, some funded by the foundation, others funded by local families.
This year, a number of local students benefited from these bursaries. Jeanelle Charchuk, Jordy Obrigewitch, Cassidy Charchuk and Keely Burns all received Foundation Scholarships ($1,000 each). Burns was also the beneficiary of a new scholarship, the Joyce Fox Scholarship, initiated by the Fox family and nurses at Fairview Health Complex (also $1,000).
Madison Jewer received the Pauline Landry Bursary, while Callista Stensruud received the Vi Landry Bursary ($500 each).
The scholarships and bursaries are meant to encourage local students to go into the field of health care and return to Fairview to work and raise families.
